Kayla Chowning
Kayla Chowning is passionate about helping guide families through the difficult times that accompany divorce and children’s issues. She has dedicated her practice to do what is best for each client so they will be comfortable in their new reality.
Born and raised in West Texas, Kayla took a leap to the big city and began her legal career in Dallas. Kayla is a recent graduate of Southern Methodist University, Dedman School of Law where she graduated with honors. While in law school, Kayla served as the External Vice President for the Family Law Association and worked as a student attorney with the W.W. Caruth, Jr. Child Advocacy Clinic Advocacy Clinic representing foster children as their Attorney Ad Litem.
Kayla is familiar with the diverse practices in family law and has been with Johnson, Loyd & Schmitz since the summer of 2019 as a law clerk. As a lifelong athlete, Kayla understands the importance and strength that come with teamwork and thrives in the team-oriented environment our firm provides. She has learned each family law case is different and is eager to fiercely advocate to achieve her client’s goals in and out of the courtroom.
